the new bill mallonee record is one for the books, folks. mr. m proves once again why he's the poet laureate of winter. pocket full of moonlight. get it. or i'll...never know that you didn't...

what's the deal with these quotas? i mean, somehow the christian church has set up all of these goals for its members that are just unrealistic. "you have to lead one person to Christ every day....you have to volunteer at one homeless shelter every two weeks...you have to polish the brass candlesticks on the altar at church every other day...you shall not walk more than 32 steps on the sabbath..." wait, that last one's different. for a "culture of grace," we sure suck at remembering grace. recently, i posed this question to a group that i attend regularly: "what if we each just locked ourselves up in a room and did nothing but seek God for the rest of our lives? i mean nothing. no service, no volunteering, just seeking God. would He be pleased with us?" you'd have thought i had just killed a cute fuzzy hampster and gave to a small child as a gift. "God would not be pleased with that! you have to go out and do something! Jesus did stuff! He helped people!" the one girl said "but if you really seek God and want to do what He wants you to do, then you'd end up doing that stuff eventually." people are far to quick to forget that the christian church's greatest missionary went away for 3-12 years and did nothing but seek God and study scipture. nothing! we don't know what Jesus did during His formative years, but jewish tradition holds that He would've studied torah. a lot. (if i'm wrong, email me on this)

have you ever had to not look someone in the eye for fear that you would have to kiss them? it's the worst thing in the world ever. especially when you see them regularly. that's all i'm going to say about that. let's get that rumour mill a-grindin', folks!

faith she's a whistling train
running hard in the dark
and hope is like a thing untamed
gonna lay to waste your heart
love's a little bit of God
there for all to know
love's the everlasting arms
that never do let go

pax and good tidings.
