 | You're the 80's Man! No, you're not a cross-dresser. You're just the odd-shaped 80's lego man! You love the classic legos, and you're not into all these new-fangled expensive kits. Why settle for the new when the old is just as good, and far less expensive! |

well, everything is gonna be okay,
he's going to wipe those fears away
and before the night is through
this is all going to make sense to you...
i hope the words mean what they say. faith is such a scary thing...
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for."
why is it so hard for me to comprehend the fact that someone loves me so much that they will fulfill my every need exactly when it needs to be filled? is it just a product of my life? is it because i grew up in a situation where trust was a precious commodity in very short supply? ahh, the philisophical road is not one to be taken lightly...or, for that matter, right before bed.
cool thing about today: i went into a church to pass out flyers for our next show, and the youth director actually recognized me from playing starbucks. very minor local fame has been achieved. now what to do about those freakin high school girls....?

so, there's an older gentleman that lives on my street. he's british, and very nice. he has a little white dog that he walks twice a day. turns out, he used to work for sony. turns out, he was the guy that convinced sony to take dat tape to the namm show for the first time. turns out, he's engineered for many people...including eric clapton.
i asked him if i could give him my demo.
i just gave it to him.
cross your fingers.

so, i'm not feeling much like a rockstar right now...just got done doing taxes and paying bills. oh yea...this wicked georgia pollen is killing me. it makes me rethink for just a second my whole "save the forests" stance....but only for a second. then, i switch to "save the non-pollenating forests...let the pine monsters burn..."
just kidding.
how great is chesterton? i mean, the man is a genius. he can make fun of you, tear your argument to shreds, bring down your whole philosophical outlook...and love you all at the same time... wow. check out "heretics" if you ever want your mind messed with. in a good way.
i dunno who exactly i'm talking to, but read it anyway.

to paraphrase chesterton: "the only simplicity that matters is the simplicity of heart." a hard lesson to learn. putting our hopes in the actions of men will consistently let us down. putting our hopes in the actions of ourselves will consistently let us down. example: one cannot become concious of one's unconciousness, because then we cease being unconcious. in the same way, one cannot become concious of one's own humility and continue to be humble. when we place hope in our expectations of others, we ignore their complexities and flaws (yes, we all have them), and expect them to behave a certain way. when they don't behave in the expected way, we become frustrated and angry. this causes us to react. and, as i've seen all too often, a reactionary life is a life less lived. this goes for most everything in life. when we hope for worldy sucess and don't achieve it, or it doesn't stick around for as long as we'd like, we find ourselves empty, and we long to have back that time that we'd wasted. a similar path: when we place our hope in a merit-based system of religion or philosophy, we find that we end up with the short end of the stick due to our inherent flaws and shortcomings. therefore, a simple heart that realizes we are fallen and broken accepts the flaws in others and also accepts every day, every minute and every breath as a gift.
"...and you can grab for it all, with your list of demands,
or you can come as a small child with your empty hands.
yea she walks on water, yea she walks on sky
yea she walks on roses, yea she walks on by..."
my attempt at philosophical apologetics. i guess.
folds, i'm sorry.
